Lichtpferdehof is a small community founded in 2023 with 8-9 horses, dogs, and cats, located a 10-minute drive from the nearest town and over an hour’s walk away. The farm values harmony with nature and offers spaces for silence, contemplation, and celebration. Three therapy horses work with children; riding is not offered.
Volunteers will help improve shelters, build fences, clear invasive plants, and assist with a small self-sufficient field. Tasks include painting signs and walls, horse care, grooming, feeding, walking, and possibly helping with therapy. Work is 3-4 hours in the morning and 2 hours after lunch. Excursions to lakes, castles, or nearby towns are offered; weekends are free.
In week two, volunteers assist on a nearby organic farm with cows, sheep, and chickens, practicing holistic grazing and community-based agriculture. Tasks include gardening and painting.
The study program offers insight into community life, animal care, and equine language. Days begin with a spiritual ritual. Accommodation is in 3-4 person tents or a large indoor room if needed. Bring warm sleeping bags, mats, mosquito repellent, rainwear, and waterproof shoes. Meals are mainly vegetarian/vegan, prepared outdoors from organic produce.
Located in Bergisches Land near Hückeswagen and Schloss Burg, Cologne and a swimming lake are accessible. Campfires and stargazing are evening highlights. A child protection self-declaration is required after registration.
