Die Vereinigung junger Freiwillige e.V. bietet im Rahmen vom „weltwärts“ Programm die Möglichkeit, für 12 Monate einen entwicklungspolitischen Freiwilligendienst im

Ausland zu machen. Unsere Einsatzstellen sind in Ecuador, Kolumbien und Kambodscha – bei all unseren Projekten steht interkulturelles Lernen im Vordergrund. Aufgabenbereiche der Projekte sind: Nachhaltigkeit, Kinderbetreuung, Englischunterricht und Ökologie.

Teilnahmebedingungen

- Alter: 18-28 Jahre

Alle anderen anfallenden Kosten (Flüge, Unterkunft, Verpflegung) werden vom Programm übernommen und ihr habt weiterhin Anspruch auf Kindergeld.

Englisch Unterricht für Kinder und Jugendliche und Mitarbeit an einem Öko - Tourismus Projekt, Unterstützung von Näher*innen eines lokalen fairen Modelabel

KKO (Khmer for Khmer Organisation) ist eine gemeinnützige, deutsch-kambodschanische Nicht-Regierungsorganisation, die 2009 gegründet wurde und darauf abzielt, Kindern und Erwachsenen kostenlose Bildung zu bieten. Der Fokus liegt auf Englisch- und Computerkursen für Jugendliche und Ausbildung von Näherinnen.

Die Schule liegt ca. 3 km außerhalb in ländlicher Umgebung und ist mit dem Fahrrad erreichbar. Die ca. 10 Näherinnen und 300 Schüler/Innen stammen aus bedürftigen Familien der umliegenden Dörfer.

2011 gründete KKO das OFFTRACK-Label, um den Erhalt der Schul- und Ausbildungsprojekte langfristig garantieren zu können. Seitdem bieten sie spezielle Outdoor-Fahrradtouren an.

Außerdem fertigen Absolventen der Näherinnen-Ausbildung handgefertigte Produkte für das faire Modelabel OFFTRACK Accessoires an. Alle Gewinne von OFFTRACK gehen zu zu 100% zurück an KKO, um die Bildungsprogramme zu unterstützen und die Mitarbeiter zu bezahlen.

In der Saison liegt Hauptaufgaben des/der Freiwilligen im Bearbeiten und Abschließen von Buchungsanfragen per Mail oder Telefon und beim Vor- und Nachbereiten der Touren. Da die OFFTRACK-Touren immer weiter optimiert werden sollten, unterstützt er/sie das Team auch beim Weiterentwickeln und Bearbeiten des Tourangebots. Für den Bereich des Online-Marketings betreut der/die Freiwillige die Social Media Kanäle, die Website und verschiedene Buchungs- und Bewertungsplattformen. Im Bereich Offline-Marketing ist der regelmäßige Kontakt zu Hotels und der Ausbau weiterer Kooperationsunternehmen in Siem Reap und weiteren Städten von Bedeutung.

Nachhaltiger gemeindebasierter Tourismus, ökologische Landwirtschaft

Die Gruppe von Ehrenamtler*innen Urku Kama hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die wertvollen Landschaften des andinen Hochgebirges zu schützen. Teil dieser Arbeit sind unter anderem ökologische Studien des langjährig kommerziell genutzten Seengebietes auf über viertausend Metern Höhe zu erstellen und das strategische Bekämpfen von Flächenbränden in Abstimmung mit der Feuerwehr sowie die Aufzucht und Aufforstung des Gebiets mit regionalen Pflanzen. Dabei wird mit staatlichen Akteuren, NGOs und Universitäten zusammengearbeitet.

Der/die Freiwillige unterstützt die Abteilung für "Institutionelle Entwicklung" der Kantonsverwaltung in Tabacundo, die die biologisch und nachhaltig produzierende Bauernschaft und die Händler*innen des lokalen Marktes unterstützt.

Neben Tagen, an denen im Büro Akten zu bestehenden Projekten aktualisiert und bearbeitet werden müssen, besteht die Möglichkeit, die Kolleg*innen auf die Felder der Produzent*innen zu begleiten. Auch die Teilnahme an und Unterstützung von Veranstaltungen der Kantonsverwaltung kann zum Aufgabenbereich gehören und schliesst die gelegentliche Arbeit an Wochenenden nicht aus.

VJF Englisch- und Computerunterricht im Chibodia Kinderheim und einer Landschule

Die lokale Organisation Chibodia wurde 2006 mit dem Ziel gegründet, verarmten und elternlosen Kindern eine qualitativ hochwertige Ausbildung in einer familienähnlichen Umgebung zu ermöglichen. Alle Kinder im Heim in Phnom Penh besuchen die öffentliche Schule und erhalten ergänzenden Unterricht in verschiedenen Fächern. Auf dem Land, etwa 1 Stunde Fahrzeit von der Hauptstadt entfernt, unterstützt Chibodia eine Englischschule für etwa 450 Schüler/innen aus umliegenden Dörfern.

Der/die Freiwillige wird sowohl im Kinderheim in der Hauptstadt als auch in der Landschule tätig sein und beim Englisch- und Computerunterricht assistieren, Sport- oder künstlerische Aktivitäten organisieren und bei anderen anfallende Aufgaben helfen. Möglichst soll der/die Freiwillige bei der Organisation des Computerraums der Landschule helfen und Konversationsstunden mit den Lehrkräften durchführen. Ziele: - Die Kinder und Mitarbeiter/innen haben ihre Aussprache in Englisch verbessert. - Der Computerraum funktioniert und wird gut genutzt. - Der/die Freiwillige/r lernt mit einer fremden Kultur umzugehen, entwickelt ein Verständnis für ein Entwicklungsland und gewinnt Arbeitserfahrung

Das Projekt fördert die soziale Entwicklung der Dorfgemeinschaft durch verschiedene Projekte und die Koordination der Arbeit von verschiedenen lokalen Organisationen.

Das Programm für Frauen der Organisation UNOPAC konzentriert sich auf die ökonomische Selbstermächtigung, Ausbildung von Führungspersönlichkeiten und die Zuverfügungstellung von Finanzmitteln.

Durch die solidarische Zusammenarbeit in einem Gemeinschaftsgarten, und die Herstellung des speziellen "uchú jacu"-Mehl werden lokale Güter produziert, und diese auf lokalen Märkten vertrieben.

Der/die Freiwillige unterstützt bei der Organisation von Workshops, arbeitet im Gemeinschafts-Garten mit, und übernimmt Organisatorische Aufgaben in Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Kolleg*innen (Veranstaltungen etc.)

Eine weitere Aufgabe des Freiwilligen ist die schulische Unterstützung von Kindern

Die Organisation 'New Futures for Children' wurde 2003 gegründet und betreut ungefähr 60 Kinder und Jugendliche im Alter von 4 bis 22 Jahre. Da Gelände liegt am Rande der Hauptstadt Phnom Penh. In das Kinderheim werden Kinder aufgenommen, bei denen die Betreuung durch Eltern oder anderen Verwandten auf Grund von Tod, Krankheit oder familiäre Gewalt nicht gewährleistet ist. Die Kinder gehen zur öffentlichen Schule oder studieren und erhalten im Kinderheim zusätzlichen Unterricht in Englisch, Computer und Kunst.

Der/die Freiwillige wird beim Englischunterricht der Kinder und Mitarbeiter/innen assistieren, die Benutzung des Computer-Übungsraums organisieren und bei anderen Verwaltungs- oder Organisationsaktivitäten helfen. Außerdem soll er/sie dabei helfen, die Lehrförderung und Lernerfolge der Kinder zu kontrollieren. Das Hauptziel des Einsatz des Freiwilligen ist die Verbesserung des Englisch der Kinder und Mitarbeiter und, dass der Computerraum gut genutzt wird. Dabei kann der/die Freiwillige lernen, mit einer fremden Kultur umzugehen und entwickelt ein Verständnis für das Gastland.

Eins zu Eins - Bildung fürs Leben

Uno a Uno in Cotacachi-Ecuador konzentriert sich auf innovative und personalisierte Ausbildung . Die lokale Organisation wurde 2014 mit dem Ziel gegründet, Kindern eine qualitativ hochwertige Ausbildung in einer familienähnlichen Umgebung zu ermöglichen. Alle Kinder in Uno A Uno in Cotacachi besuchen die öffentliche Schule und erhalten im Uno a Uno ergänzenden Unterricht in verschiedenen Fächern.

Der/die Freiwillige gibt in Fundación Uno a Uno Sprachunterricht im Fach Englisch) für Kinder und Jugendlichen Die Freiwilligen, welche in diesem Projekt unterstützen, werden immer mit lokalen Lehrer arbeiten. Eine Unterrichtsstunde kann zum Beispiel so aussehen, dass wir am Anfang ein bisschen der letzten Stunde mit einem Spiel wiederholen, dann etwas neue Grammatik machen und diese dann mit Arbeitsblättern oder Aufgaben vertiefen. Aber es kann auch mal ganz anders aufgebaut sein, mit Konversationen oder Dialogen, Texte schreiben, neue Vokabeln lernen, oder typisches Essen aus den jeweiligen Ländern kochen.

Anforderungen an dich

Der /Die Freiwillige sollte an der Geschichte, Kultur und Lebensweise Ecuadors interessiert sein. Es werden eine aktive und engagierte Mitarbeit, sowie Offenheit, Teamfähigkeit und Lernbereitschaft erwartet. Hierbei wird vor allem auf den Willen zu entwicklungspolitischem Engagement geachtet. Gute Englisch- und Spanischkenntnisse erleichtern den Zugang zu den Einwohnern und Projektpartnern. Interesse für die Arbeit mit Kinder und erste Erfahrungen in der Arbeit mit Kinder sollten vorliegen, sowie die Bereitschaft, die eigene Kultur und Kenntnisse mit den Lehrer und Jugendlichen zu teilen.

Arbeit mit obdachlosen Kindern und Erwachsenen in Kolumbien

Foundation Street Samaritans ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation deren Hauptaufgabe ist, die integrale Entwicklung und die soziale Inklusion der Straßenbewohner (Kindern und Erwachsenen -Obdachlose) zu fördern. Ziel des Projekts ist die Stärkung der Kinder und Erwachsenen und der Wiedereingliederung dieser Personen in die Gesellschaft.

Organisation und Teilnahme an Workshops und anderen Veranstaltungen der Gemeinschaft Unterstützung und Mitarbeit bei der Koordinierung von Aktivitäten Zusammenarbeit mit den Kollegen vor Ort bei organisatorischen Aufgaben Unterstützung der Erwachsenen bei Aktivitäten

Anforderungen an dich

Der/die Freiwillige sollte über achtzehn Jahre alt sein und eine gute körperliche und geistige Gesundheit haben. Weitere Voraussetzungen sind Anpassungs- und Teamfähigkeit, sowie Flexibilität, Empathie und Geduld, stabile ethische Grundwerte, ein freundliches Wesen und diplomatisches Geschick. Es wird von den Freiwilligen der Wille erwartet, nur das Beste von sich zu geben. Die Würde der Schutzbefohlenen ist zu respektieren und aktiv zu verteidigen.

Unterstützung von unterprivilegierten Jugendlicher bei ihrer Ausbildung in einer Nähwerkstatt

Der/Die Freiwillige arbeitet daran die Fertigungsprozesse in der Produktion von den OFFTRACK-Accessoires zu optimieren und je nach Bedarf eigene Entwürfe zu entwickeln und den Näherinnen beizubringen. Außerdem sollte er/sie der Produktionsmanagerin bei der Qualitäts- und Produktionskontrolle und beim Versand der gefertigten Produkte helfen. Bei Messen wird er/sie das Label vertreten und Kontakte zu möglichen Kooperationspartnern herstellen. Der/Die Freiwillige kann auch selbstständig neue Konzepte und Ideen einbringen und diese entwickeln.

Arbeit

Project: "Sound Voice Music"

You will creatively explore the role of music and languages in the concentration camp. Together with the other participants, you will go in search of songs, voices and sounds - in the historical concentration camp and in today's memorial site. Under the guidance of an artist, you will develop your own sound snippets, record voices and sounds, and write song lyrics and music. Together you will discuss how history should be remembered today. In a joint performance you will present your international perspectives on commemoration.

Study part:

The history of Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and the Soviet Special Camp are the focus of this part of the study. You will learn about the life stories of former prisoners who were interned here from all over Europe. Why were they persecuted? What was their daily life in the camp like and how did they try to survive? Visits to exhibitions, memorials and museums in Oranienburg and Berlin as well as discussions with experts are also part of the program.

Work part:

Participants will perform maintenance and gardening work on the memorial grounds. No special skills are required for the simple physical work.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Accomodation:

You will be accommodated in a youth hostel. The building is on the grounds of historical

Sachsenhausen concentration camp complex and was built in 1938 as the official residence

of the Concentration Camp Inspector, 2 km away from the memorial centre.

It is not necessary to bring a sleeping bag. Bed sheets and linen will be provided. You will sleep

in shared rooms with a lot of space. It is possible to use the washing machine and the dryer for

a small fee.

Food:

In the hostel there is a big kitchen for the group. Please be prepared not only to cook

there, but also to clean up afterwards ;) This will be done by the kitchen team of your group.

Volunteers have to cook the meals for themselves. Please bring easy recipes from your home country.

Lage und Freizeit

Area:

Sachsenhausen is a part of Oranienburg, ca. 33 km to the north of Berlin. Sachsenhausen was

one of the earliest concentration camps in Germany, built in 1936. For example, German

people who were in opposition to Nazi policy, homosexuals, so-called asocials, criminals,

Jews, and during the war especially people from occupied countries were imprisoned, forced

to work and a lot of them were murdered. Between 1945 and 1950 a part of this area was used

as a so-called Special Camp of the Soviet Secret Service

Leisure:

Volunteers have to be able to ride a bike, as several shorter and longer bike rides are planned. Bicycles are provided, but helmets are not required. In the free time it's possible to go to Berlin or Potsdam. The volunteers will find many forests and lakes to walk, cycle or just relax. However, the free time activities will mainly depend on participants' ideas.

Wer organisiert das Projekt?

The Sachsenhausen Memorial was one of the largest concentration camps in Germany and was built in 1936 near Berlin. More than 200,000 people from all over Europe were imprisoned here by the Nazi SS. The prisoners were forced to perform inhumane labor, and thousands died or were murdered. After the liberation in 1945, the Soviet secret service established Special Camp No.7/No.1 on the site for the internment of former Nazi functionaries and political opponents. Today the memorial is a place of remembrance, learning and research.

Anforderungen

Studypart:

You should bring an interest in the history of Germany and Europe in the 1930s and 1940s and commemoration.

You should have a desire to discuss these topics in an international group.

Project related:

Enjoyment of making music and/or experimenting with sounds and a willingness to participate in the performance are important.

Please bring a sound, music or object that you associate with the theme of history and remembrance.

In general:

You should be able to perform simple physical tasks.

A good knowledge of English is a prerequisite for participation.

Since many shorter and longer bike rides are planned, volunteers should also be able to ride a bike.

Please be fully vaccinated (2 to 3 shots of one of the following vaccines: BioNtech/Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or Johnson&Johnson) or recovered (date of infection must be min. 28 days old and max. 90 days old).

Arbeit

You will contribute to sustaining the ecosystem of Liepnitz island and the forests around the island. You get to help the local foresters with various environmental works in the woods. Next to that, you will also help with renovation and construction works on the island and in the forests around the island. Possible tasks include removing bushes and invasive small tree species, helping sustain the ecosystem of the moors, collecting rubbish and wood, repairing tasks and so on. Your work days will be 6 hours long and the weekends are free.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

The accommodation is located on the Liepnitz Island, surrounded by the forests and a picturesque lake called Liepnitzsee. Your accommodation and the infrastructure on the island will be very basic. There are three large tents with camp beds to sleep in, and you make use of ecofriendly compost toilets. There is no electricity, heating or warm water on the island, so be prepared for refreshing cold showers! The foresters of the project have built a nice and comfortable block house where the group can meet, cook and eat together. A small kitchen with fridge is available and food can be cooked on a gas hob cooker. Everyday, there will be a kitchen team of two volunteers to prepare food for the group. We encourage you to bring some recipes and special ingredients from your home country to share with the other volunteers!

Lage und Freizeit

The Liepnitz Island is situated in the picturesque lake Liepnitzsee in the north of Berlin. Outside the island you are surrounded by beautiful landscapes with many forests and several lakes. Swimming is allowed, so don't forget to bring your swimwear with you! There are lots of opportunities for outdoor sport activities like soccer, table-tennis and volleyball, or have a walk through nature. There will also be other vacation campers on the island during your stay, with which you engage respectfully. To spend your freetime on the main land around the island, or to visit Berlin, you cross the lake by ferry between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m..

Anreise zum Treffpunkt

You have to travel by Bahn or train from Berlin to S-Bernau. There you will meet our project partner. The foresters will take you by car to the camp site. You can also travel to a different S-Bahn. Wherever you arrive in Berlin, the trip takes 50-60 min to get to the island.

Weitere Infos

You have to be able to swim, as a safety guarantee.

Please be prepared for 2 weeks without internet. Cell phones can be charged on the main land during the working hours, but you can bring a powerbank if you need to charge it more often.

German language skills will be appreciated because the foresters you will work with are

speaking only little English.

As it is a nature camp during summer, be prepared for mosquitos.

Remember them! In this workcamp you can get involved in the preservation of the former Nazi women's concentration camp Ravensbrück.

Study part:

Join us for the first week to get to know the Ravensbrück Memorial and its history. We will deal intensively and artistically with biographies of imprisoned women and survivors who were imprisoned in the Ravensbrück concentration camp and afterwards in the subcamp Waldbaulager, which is part of the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Work part:

Various maintenance works in the exterior of the memorial and the collections.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Study part:

Join us for the first week to get to know the Ravensbrück Memorial and its history. We will deal intensively and artistically with biographies of imprisoned women and survivors who were imprisoned in the Ravensbrück concentration camp and afterwards in the subcamp Waldbaulager, which is part of the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

Work part:

Various maintenance works in the exterior of the memorial and the collections.

We need your help to maintain the outside of our Forest House. You will help out with collecting leafs, sawing fallen trees and branches into smaller pieces, dig out wild grown plants and trees, and cleaning up the area around the Forest House.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

You will live in our Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte. This is the meeting and project centre of the Vereinigung  Junger Freiwilliger e.V./ VJF (Union of Young Volunteers). The centre is used as accommodation for different groups of young people and a sort of holiday resort for school classes. At the Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte, you sleep in bungalows. You don’t need to bring a sleeping bag with you, bed linen will be provided. There is no washing machine and only limited internet access. 

You will have the chance to prepare your own meals in a small kitchen at the centre. Please bring your own recipes for our international evenings.

Lage und Freizeit

The Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte is situated in a forest on the banks of the lake Langer See in Berlin. It’s a quiet place, a bit far from the centre of Berlin (but there are good public transport connections). Your workplace, called Waldhaus, also a VJF centre, is located in another forest and it takes approximately one hour to get there from the accommodation. From Waldhaus you can get to the centre of Berlin in about 30 minutes.

Leisure activities will be decided in accordance with the group’s wishes. You can use the facilities at our holiday centre to play sports (volleyball, table tennis) and even swim in the lake when it's warm. Of course you will have the possibility of enjoying the sights and culture (theatres, clubs...) of Berlin and go for an excursion to Potsdam.

Accommodation:

You will live in small bungalows. Bed linen will be provided. The sanitary track with showers, toilets is situated next to the bungalows. Close to the sleeping place you will have your own meeting room, a place to meet and relax in the evening.

All meals will be provided in the centre. The catering is well organised, with set meal times for the different groups accommodated at the same time.

Accomodation Berlin:

You will live in one of the heated bungalows of the VJF project and meeting center. There are six bungalows in total, each equipped with a bathroom with shower and toilet. Bed linen is provided so you do not have to bring it with you. The main buildings can also be used for cooking, sharing meals and leisure activities during the stay.

Accommodation Plau am See:

You will live on a camping site close to a very nice lake. You will sleep in tents (2 persons per tent) on camping beds with mattresses. Please bring a sleeping bag and bed linen. If it will

rain you can sleep in a building. A kitchen, sanitary facilities and a big meeting room are provided on the camping site. A washing machine can be used.

Food:

Meals are prepared in alternating cooking groups. Feel free to bring simple recipes from your home country to cook with the other participants during your stay. A grill is also available for your use at the accomodation in Berlin.

You are accommodated in the "Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte" of the Vereinigung Junger Freiwilliger e.V.. The small bungalow village is located directly on the shore of the "Langer See" in Berlin. It is a quiet place with good public transport connections to the center of the capital.

Area Plau am See:

The project is situated in the „Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide" Nature Reserve, situated between the two towns Goldberg and Guestrow in the Federal district of Mecklenburg, in the

north east of Germany. This area is covered with forests and you can find a lot of beautiful lakes there. The nearest big village is Krakow am See. The place is isolated; but the surrounding nature is beautiful. So please be prepared to spend some weeks in the nature without shopping opportunities.

Leisure Time:

At Kriminitzer Weg in Berlin, you can do sports and games (e.g. table tennis, volleyball), hiking tours and Berlin explorations. At Plau am See, there are a lot of opportunities to discover the countryside by foot, bike or boat. You’ll have the chance to visit bigger towns and to make trips to the Baltic Sea. The area around Plau am See is covered with beautiful lakes where you can swim. If you like, you could do guided tours through the forest or learn something about regional endangered animals.The free time activities willmainly depend on your ideas. Please inform yourself in advance what you would like to see in Berlin and bring your suggestions!

Your work will include different activities in a natural park like to build an apiary, to help farmers or similar works. Your help is also needed for maintenance works, e.g. on orchid meadows, in forests or on a bird island.

This project is especially for nature lovers. Please be prepared to work 5-6 hours a day. Volunteers should come prepared for light or heavy work and be motivated for anything to help the rangers of the Nature Reserve.

You will live on a camping site close to a very nice lake. You will sleep in tents (2 persons per tent) on camping beds with mattresses. Please bring a sleeping bag and bed linen. If it will

rain you can sleep in a building. A kitchen, sanitary facilities and a big meeting room are provided on the camping site. A washing machine can be used. Please be aware, that there is only limited

internet connection!

The project is located in the nature reserve "Nossentiner Schwinzer Heide" in the northeast of Germany. You can find many beautiful lakes and dense forests there. The nearest bigger place is Krakow am See. The place is remote, but the surrounding nature is beautiful. Be prepared to spend two weeks in nature without shopping opportunities.

Leisure Time:

The nature reserve can be explored on foot, by bike or by boat. In the area there are many beautiful lakes where you can swim. There is a possibility to participate in guided tours through the forest or learn about the endangered animals of the region. Also a trip to a bigger city or to the Baltic Sea can be planned. The activities are discussed in the group and will be decided together.

Arbeit

In the first week, you will work with local foresters in the wood of Jena. You tasks will include various environmental works, e.g. maintaining footpaths, lookout points and shelters. Your help will be needed for different nature protection projects. Please be prepared for environmental works to help the rangers only outside.

In the second week, the volunteers will help the environmental organisation “Fuchsturmgesellschaft” to chop down trees for a better visibility and let a bright landscape appear from the way leading to the tower and maintenance work in the flora-fauna habitat. Your help will be needed in the Education Path; also, huts need renovation or maintenance.

This is a camp for nature lovers! Work can be physically challenging at times.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Accommodation:

Volunteers will be accommodated in an isolated hostel on a hill in the Western part of Jena. Your only neighbours will be the woodland animals. All bed linen will be provided. We have the chance to have campfires, play ping-pong and volleyball, to go swimming and so on. A washing machine is available. There will be no internet access in the accommodation.

Food:

Full board, you will get the possibility to cook traditional meals occasionally. Please be prepared for typical German food, which includes a lot of bread. You will have cold breakfast and supper (bread!) and a warm meal for dinner. This camp is not suitable for Vegetarians / Vegans!

Jena is with about 100.000 inhabitants the 2nd biggest city in Thüringen and is situated on the banks of the river Saale, surrounded by white and grey calcite mountains in the eastern part of Thüringen. Jena is famous for the high-tech Zeiss Optical Instruments, the Schiller University and the Zeiss-Planetarium, which is the oldest continuously operating planetarium in the world. The city of Jena and its surroundings present many good opportunities for recreation and relaxing.

Leisure Time:

Please notice that Jena city is far away from your accommodation, so better be ready to spend lots of time by yourselves, enjoying games / sports and outdoor activities. We can go hiking and have cycling tours in this beautiful area. We can also make trips to other cities, for example we can travel to Weimar, which is well known as the workplace of the poets Goethe and Schiller. You’ll be able to learn more about history, as we could visit the former concentration camp Buchenwald. The student city of Jena offers many cultural possibilities to explore. Free-time activities will mainly depend on your ideas and wishes.

The volunteers are asked to help on the excavation ground of the fortress with building work, repairing and painting walls, carrying stones or cleaning. Other tasks can be removing of bushes or documentation of your work. Furthermore, there are restoration works and embellishments in the village and the nearby hiking trails in the Thuringian forest. It is possible that you will be asked to help on another excavation place to do punctured excavations (1m x 1m) and filter the finds. Please be prepared for any work outside.

You will live in a community house in the village, with toilet and shower facilities provided. All bed linen is provided.

Food:

Area:

Weisbach is a very small village in the mountains of Thüringen, not far from Saalfeld and surrounded by beautiful countryside with mountains, green valleys, forests and meadows. A fortress was built on a hill near the village in the 11th century but it was destroyed during the following century. It has become overgrown with trees and bushes since then. Systematic excavations began in 1984. Please be prepared to live and work in a very remote area!

Leisure Time:

If you are interested in history, you will have the chance to learn a lot about the region and the fortress. You can travel to Weimar, which was the well known workplace of the poets Goethe and Schiller. You will be able to find out more about history and perhaps visit the former concentration camp Buchenwald. It will also be possible to go to a nearby castle called „Schloss Burg“. Perhaps you will get to see the concert of the world famous organ „Silbermannorgel“. You could go for a boat trip on the river Saale or just enjoy the natural environment while walking around the area.

Please be aware that you will be in a very rural area from where it is quite difficult to get away (for shopping etc.), but there are very nice people in the village who are interested in meeting you.

The Erlebnishof is located centrally, on a quiet and idyllic branch of the Spree. It mainly accommodates school classes, daycare groups, clubs and families.

Special about the Erlebnishof is the many animals. there are rabbits, hamsters, cats, dogs, chickens, two ponies, donkeys, goats and sheep. In addition, we offer a wealth of opportunities for sport, recreation and relaxation on the farm. You will find a slackline track, a beach volleyball court, a football/basketball field as well as an archery range and our leisure house.

Accommodation:

You will live in a house, in multi-bed rooms. Bed linen will be provided. The sanitary track with

showers, toilets and a living room will be on the same floor as your room.

Food:

All meals will be provided in the centre. The catering is well organised, with set meal times for the

different groups of children accommodated at the same time. Furthermore, you should know that the

centre provides food which is usually intended for children.

The group will receive German lessons by a qualified teacher who is a native speaker. You will receive 3 hours German lessons in the morning. The grammar and communication will be deepened, depending on the wishes and needs of the participants.

In your free time, excursions through Berlin and the surrounding area are planned. It is planned that the volunteers also communicate in German with each other in their free time to deepened the subject matter.
